When will the next classes begin?
Our next session of PFOC training classes is scheduled to begin Monday, November 2nd and pre-registration is required. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, class sizes will be smaller and we require that you wear a face covering. Please do not bring visitors to your class.
What is the cost of a session?
$50 if this is your dog's first class with PFOC, $40 if the dog has previously trained with PFOC.
When and where are PFOC classes held?
PFOC conducts 6-week dog training classes on Monday evenings from November through April. Classes are held outdoors at a Phoenix city park. Classes are fifty minutes long with some classes beginning at 7 pm and others at 8:15 pm. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will accept students by pre-registation only and class sizes will be smaller. We require that you wear a face covering. Please do not bring visitors to class.
What will my dog and I learn?
PFOC classes will show you how to use patience and the correct techniques to communicate with your dog. In our beginning classes, we teach basic control exercises to prepare your dog for successful completion of AKC's Canine Good Citizen test. In our obedience show classes, the emphasis is on preparing you and your dog for competition at obedience trials. You can also choose to prepare for Rally or Conformation competition. Our instructors are experienced at training and showing their own dogs and are dedicated to helping other dog owners enhance the relationship with their dog.
How do I sign up for classes?
You may register for classes by mailing a completed registration form, along with a check for $50 made payable to PFOC, to Training Director Marilyn Bennett at 7148 W. Caribbean Lane, Peoria, AZ 85381. The registration form can be downloaded from this website. You can also call our Training Line at 623-412-3288 and leave a message with your name, address, phone number and class level requested.
Registration forms must be received at least one week prior to the beginning of class. Acknowledgements for class acceptance will be sent about a week before classes begin. Registering for a class does not guarantee a placement due to class size limitations. If your requested class is filled, you will be placed on a waiting list. Refunds will be given at the discretion of the Training Director. Total refunds will only be given if notified before the first class of the session. Both purebred and All American dog breeds are welcome in PFOC classes. Phoenix Field & Obedience Club reserves the right to refuse admission to PFOC classes at the discretion of the Training Director.
Is there other information I should know before attending my first training class?
